Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress, singer and dancer. Her career began with Broadway career performing in musicals including Wicked and Legally Blonde and Hair. She won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with actors and directors on stage and screen throughout all her life. Ashford's next project will be a limited-edition Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford currently is working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. This is undoubtedly a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production team of Hamilton production Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the director's helm for the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment inspired by the crisis in America that picked up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment proceedings in over 100 years. She was part of the cast for two seasons of the cult CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. She is no stranger to Broadway Ashford is the recipient of the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Her additional Broadway roles comprise Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for that she won a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver currently splits her time between Los Angeles & New York.
